Tanzania’s Business Mogul Mohammed Dewji Kidnapped; A Report!

The youngest billionaire of Africa, the influential business mogul has been abducted by gunmen in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Mohammed Dewji, a 43-year-old businessman, got kidnapped when he was going for morning workout outside hotel gym. According to the police, three suspects have been arrested. Moreover, the police also believe that the abductors are foreigners. The real motive of the abduction is not clear yet.

Mohammed Dewji: Abduction Details!

The incident occurred in Oysterbay neighborhood.

One of the eyewitnesses confirmed that the gunmen fired several air shots before driving away with Dewji.

According to Paul Makonda, the regional police commissioner, Dewji went to the gym without security guards, which gave kidnappers a chance of abducting him.

The police report also mentioned that two of the abductors were white men from foreign nationals.

Who is Mohammed Dewji?

Forbes, one of the top financial magazine ranked his wealth at £980m. Mohammed is the one and the only billionaire of Tanzania, having the total assets and net worth of $1.5 billion. He was ranked as Africa’s youngest billionaire in 2017.

Born on 8th May 1975, Mohammed Dewji was born in a rural town Singida, Tanzania. His parents use to operate a trading house. To grow his family business, he went to the United States for further study. However, he became the one to open MeTL company. His company is an expert in beverages, flour milling, textile manufacturing, and has more interests.
