Then in the 1987 World Championship in Athletics, Colin got popular globally as he took the bronze home and later won silver in the 1988 Silver Olympics.

In the 1980 World Indoor Championship, Colin bagged another silver as well as won Commonwealth and European gold medals. In the 1993 season, he set the record of 12.91 seconds to win the World Championship. During the 1993 to 1995 season, Colin had the streak of 44 races undefeated and won the last gold of his career in Munich European Championship in 2002.

After his illustrious career, Colin went on to become a sports commentator in BBC and became the multimedia director of Red Shoes.
