Yalda Hakim is an Australian broadcast journalist and presenter who is famous for her work as a news presenter at BBC World News. She can be seen reporting documentaries in the TV Shows of BBC News Channel and BBC Two’s Newsnight. Yalda has also interviewed the president of her country Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai in 2013.

Yalda was born in Kabul, Afghanistan on 26^th June 1983. Currently, she resides in London, the UK but she is of Australian nationality. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree from Macquarie University in Media and a degree in journalism from Monash University in 2007. Yalda is fluent in six languages including English, Pashto, Urdu, Hindi, Dari, and Persian.

Yalda had an enjoyable childhood; she was just three years old when she moved to Australia with the help of some smugglers from Pakistan during the Soviet-Afghan war. After settling in Australia, she attended Macquarie University to study BA in Media. After completing her graduation, she started working in SBS World News Australia and had to go to Afghanistan to report the status from there.

In 2009, Yalda received United Nations Media Peace Prize Award for her brilliant news coverage. She announced that she joined BBC in 2012 after she got approached by BBC in Brisbane. Yalda first appeared in BBC World News followed by BBC News Channel in 2013. Occasionally, she appeared on the TV Show Impact and later become the presenter of the show in late 2014.
