Annie Leibovitz is a portrait photographer who became famous for her work in the United States, and p is known for photographing John Lennon. In the year 1991, she became the first woman to have her exhibition at Washington’s National Portrait Gallery.

Her father served the US Air Force as a lieutenant colonel, and her mother was a dance instructor. Annie completed her graduation from Northwood High School.

Annie started her professional career in photography with Rolling Stone Magazine in 1970. In 1973, she got promoted to the chief photographer of the company by Jann Wenner. Annie worked for Rolling stone for almost ten years and branded the company image.

During her time at Rolling Stones, Annie worked as the concert tour photographer during the Rolling Stones Tour of America. On 8th December 1980, she was the last person to take a photograph of John Lennon before he was assassinated, after five hours of the photoshoot.

In her illustrious career, Annie won several awards like “The Royal Photographic Society’s Centenary Medal,” “Paez Medal of Art” and in 2018, she was awarded the “Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts.”
