He partnered with Len Blavatnik, Philippe Starck, and Foster + Partners in the project which was opened in 2004. The Faena Hotel was designed by Starck which was their first project in South America. The project holds a significance in the Buenos Aires area as the Faena District project is estimated to be a $200 million development and most valuable real estate project.

Alan has expanded his business to Miami Beach with an investment of $1 billion to develop a six-block waterfront property. The project focuses on restoration of the 1984 Saxony hotel as well as an art center, Faena Forum. Rem Koolhaas did the architectural work.
